A MESSAGE FROM THE RACE DIRECTOR...
Volunteers are the lifeblood of charitable events like the Door County Triathlon. Simply put, this event could not happen without our volunteers. We hope you'll consider becoming part of the triathlon's volunteer team by helping out. There are lots of opportunities available before, during or after event weekend. In return, we can offer you our thanks, a very nice volunteer t-shirt, a free meal during the event, and the smiles on the faces of the participants as they cross the finish line. Trust us, it's worth it!!!
Sincerely,
Sean Ryan

VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION MEETING
All volunteers for the Door County Triathlon are strongly encouraged to attend our one hour Volunteer Orientation meeting. This meeting will take place as follows:
| DATE |
TIME |
PLACE |
Thursday
July 17, 2008 |
5:30 pm |
Door County YMCA
1900 Michigan Street Sturgeon Bay |
The meeting should be fun and informative. Refreshments will be served and all volunteers will receive their event assignment and free volunteer t-shirt.
DIRECTIONS TO THE RACE SITE
From Sturgeon Bay, take State Highway 42/57 north. Stay on Highway 42 northbound. Approximately 11.5 miles north of the Sturgeon Bay bridge, turn left on County Road G. Take G for 2 miles until it intersects with Horseshoe Bay Road. Turn left. Park in the fields to the right at the bottom of Horseshoe Bay Road.
ROAD CLOSURE NOTE TO VOLUNTEERS AND SPECTATORS
On Sunday, July 20, from 8:00 am until 11:00 am, County Highway B (Bayshore Drive) will be closed to traffic from Horseshoe Bay Road to Quarry Park (a nine mile stretch of road) in order to accommodate the bike course portion of the Door County Triathlon.
WEAR YOUR VOLUNTEER T-SHIRT
Please wear your free volunteer t-shirt so that race participants can identify you as a race volunteer. You may pick up your t-shirt at any of the Volunteer Orientation meetings.
AFTER FINISHING YOUR SHIFT
Once you have completed your assignment, please check in at the Volunteer Check-in Area under the pavilion at Murphy Park for a new assignment, refreshments and snacks. Chances are good that we may need you in other areas. We expect the race to be over by shortly after Noon.
FINAL VOLUNTEER TIPS
On event day, you may be outside for several hours, so be sure to bring sunscreen, water, snacks and a hat if you wish.
The race will be held rain or shine. If it is raining, we still need our volunteers to come out and help!
Remember to wear your volunteer t-shirt. Most important tip of all: Smile and have fun! Your enthusiasm is contagious. |
